Jon C. Corn
Senior PartnerRated AV Preeminent by Martindale Hubbell, Jon is an accomplished land use attorney, trial lawyer, and coastal property rights advocate. Over his 25-year career, Jon has represented hundreds of property owners to obtain coastal development permits, resolve code violation disputes, conduct acquisition due diligence, and litigate claims involving property rights and civil disputes. A formidable and skilled trial lawyer, Jon has successfully prosecuted and defended dozens of cases before juries and judges throughout California, including cases involving the California Coastal Commission, real estate fraud/misrepresentation, property disputes, density bonus law, insurance bad faith, lemon law, writs involving CEQA and the California Coastal Act, and serious personal injury.
Jon is also a real estate developer and holds a California real estate broker’s license. Most projects involve subdivision mapping and entitlement projects utilizing the State Density Bonus Law. This experience gives him unique insights into the extreme challenges facing California developers, especially in the Coastal Zone. He lives in Del Mar, California with his wife and 3 sons.

Arie Spangler
Of CounselMs. Spangler represents individuals, businesses and professionals in real estate, professional liability, business litigation and personal injury disputes. She has successfully litigated many high risk and complex civil lawsuits and argued before the California Court of Appeal. In 2015 and 2016, the San Diego Business Journal included Ms. Spangler as a finalist in its peer nominated "Best of the Bar" list.
A 2003 graduate of the University of San Diego School of Law, Ms. Spangler was raised in Encinitas, graduated from San Dieguito High School and holds a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Journalism from Pepperdine University. Before she decided to pursue a law degree, Ms. Spangler worked in public relations in Los Angeles, where she represented high profile restaurants, hotels and local business improvement districts. As an undergraduate student, Ms. Spangler served as a media and constituent relations intern in the United States Senate in Washington, D.C., and spent a semester in Florence, Italy, studying art history and Italian language. In law school, she studied international and comparative law in Barcelona, Spain and London, England.
Ms. Spangler is a member of the J. Clifford Wallace chapter of the American Inns of Court, Lawyers Club of San Diego, San Diego County Bar Association, Association of Business Trial Lawyers, Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce and Pepperdine University Alumni Association. She enjoys photography, exploring local trails and beaches, traveling and spending time with family and friends. Ms. Spangler lives in Carlsbad with her husband, their two young daughters and yellow Labrador Retriever.

Brooke Beros
Of CounselBrooke Beros has delivered successful outcomes for her clients at all stages of litigation. She began practicing in 2000, including nine years at DLA Piper LLP (formerly Gray Cary LLP). She has worked in both the state and federal court systems, as well as at the appellate level and before administrative law judges. Her clients have ranged from Fortune 500 Companies to individual homeowners. Most recently, her practice has focused on coastal property rights.
Having grown up on Balboa Island and as a current resident of Del Mar, Brooke has a personal interest in defending the rights of coastal property owners. She is passionate about her community. Brooke has served over ten years collectively on many community boards, such as the Del Mar Hills PTA, including as President; National Charity League, Seaside Chapter; and Teen Volunteers In Action - SD3. She was also recognized as a Recipient of the Wiley M. Manuel Award for pro bono work.

Chandra K Slaven, AICP
Permit SpecialistMs. Slaven is a skilled Land Use Consultant with over twenty years of experience in regulatory planning both at the local and state level. She brings a comprehensive knowledge of entitlement processes, policy planning, public outreach, and facilitation. Ms. Slaven has a respected reputation for managing and delivering project-level and programmatic initiatives within scope, budget, and schedule. She has a proven record of project success due to her ability to influence, facilitate, and forge solid relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
Ms. Slaven holds a Master’s Degree in City and Regional Planning from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from UC Santa Cruz. As a community volunteer, she served as the Planning and Transportation Commissioner and on the Board of Directors for the Building Industry Association.
As a veteran Land Use Consultant, her role spans acquisition, complex entitlement, design, and purchasing to construction oversight. She is responsible for project accounting functions, including managing budgets and minimizing entitlement exposure and risk for development. As a client representative, Ms. Slaven works collaboratively with architects, consultants, general contractors, and governing entities, including the Coastal Commission.
Nives Myrseli
Sr. ParalegalNives is an experienced litigation paralegal who assists in all phases of litigation, from inception through discovery and trial. She assists with document examination and management, drafting of pleadings, fact development, deposition and trial preparation. Nives began her career as a litigation paralegal in Seattle where she received her Paralegal Certification and her associate degree in Legal Administration. Nives also holds a European Bachelor of Laws degree and graduated in 2009 in the top ten percent of her class from Luarasi University, Albania. Prior to joining Aannestad Andelin & Corn, Nives worked in the Litigation Section of the King County’s Prosecuting Attorney Office in Washington State. She gained extensive litigation experience assisting prosecutors in large and complex litigation cases. Nives is interested in visiting foreign countries and learning about their culture through food and historical tours. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her son, Leo. She currently lives in Encinitas, California.
